Rapper, DMX checks himself into rehab, cancels 3 shows

Veteran  American rapper, DMX, who is a drug addict has checked himself into rehab to get help over his worrisome health. According to TMZ, he had to cancel three shows this week due to what was deemed a 'medical emergency.'   The rapper reportedly entered the rehab facility voluntarily on  Thursday  April 28th in Southern California with the support of his manager, Pat Gallo, and his ex-wife, Tashera Simmons. His manager released a statement, apologizing to his fans for the canceled shows, saying the rapper's health comes first. 'It is important right now that he take some time off to focus on his health so that he can be a better father, friend and entertainer,” Gallo said in a statement. “We are eternally grateful for the outpouring of concern and support that has poured in. Police Spokesman, CSP Jimoh Moshood, on Saturday, told newsmen in Abuja that six suspects in connection with an assassination attempt on Senator Dino Melaye in his home in Kogi on April 15, 2017 have been arrested. He confirms that the arrested suspects included a Kogi local government sole administrator and his orderly. Moshood said that items recovered included one Hyundai Ambulance bus allegedly used in conveying the attackers, five AK 47 rifles, One Beretta pistol and two locally made single barrel shot guns.  ' Others were 25 expended shells of 7.62 mm ammunition, 13 expended shells of 9mm ammunition and 12 expended shells of gauge cartridge.   According to the police spokesman, the suspects used the telephone of the Sole Administrator’s orderly in planning the failed assassination on Melaye. Court remands Deputy Chief Registrar in prison for N9.2m Fraud

Justice S. Olagunju of the Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State has ordered that Mrs.Mutiat Omobola Adio, the deputy chief registrar of the Ibadan Judicial Divison of Oyo State High Court, be remanded in prison custody following her arraignment  on Friday , on a 2-count charge of fraud to the tune of N9.2million by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. Adio allegedly collected the said sum as payment for a property located at Plot 10, Block XXIV, Bashorun Estate, Ibadan, sold to one Yekini Olonade, but failed to surrender the title documents of the property to him. Efforts of the victim to either recover the money or have possession of the property yielded no result. The offense was contrary to Section 1 (2) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act, 2006 and punishable under Section 1 (3) of the same Act. Donald Trump snubs White House Correspondents dinner

Donald Trump has just become the first president in 36 years to miss the annual White House Correspondents dinner. The last time a sitting president missed the dinner was in 1981 when Ronald Reagan didn't attend because he was recovering from a gunshot injury, but he did call into the event via video feed. Donald Trump has not a had a good relationship with the media so instead of attending the dinner, he chose to attend a rally in Pennsylvania to celebrate his first 100 days in office. Iranian soccer star banned from sport for not wearing hijab

Shiva Amini, an ex-member of Iran's women's football team claims she has been banned from sports after being photographed without her hijab in a friendly match,. A garment which was made compulsory for women in Iran since the Islamic Revolution in 1979. She was actually on a tour of Switzerland and Italy and took part in an exhibition game alongside male players recently. On the 8th of April 2017, Dr. Chris Okafor who was in South Africa for a mega crusade paid a courtesy call on the Nigerian consulate in Johannesburg, all in a bid to identify with the consulate and receive important briefings on the much talked about xenophobic attacks on Nigerians. EFCC has recovered N17bn through the Whistle-blower Policy - acting EFCC chairman, Ibrahim Magu

Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, yesterday April 27th, disclosed that the introduction of the whistle-blower policy by the federal government has led to the recovery of about N17billion by the Commission. Magu gave this hint while presenting a paper titled “Before Corruption Kills Nigeria”, at the 62nd Award Night of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, held atthe Ladi Kwali Hall, Sheraton Hotels, Abuja. In the paper, which was presented on his behalf by Dr. A. The Enugu state command of the Nigeria Police Force has been commended by inhabitants of Ukpata community of Uzouwani Local Government Area of Enugu state over the arrest of one Ekemezie Daniel alias Bakassi who has been a torn on the flesh of members of the public within the community and its environs. US former first lady, Michelle Obama in her first speech since stepping down from her position has revealed that she has no intention to run for a political office for family reasons. In her speech culled from CNN during the recent America Institute of Architecture convention in Orlando, Michelle who admitted that the White House stay was tough, told the audience that she wouldn’t run for public office saying: 'I wouldn’t ask my children to do this again.' The Chief of Army Staff, Nigerian Army, Lieutenant General TY Buratai, was on Tuesday, 25th April, conferred with the Brazilian Military Order of Merit Award, at Brasilia, Brazil.  The Brazilian Military Order of Merit Award, which is the highest military honour, is awarded to those military officers that have distinguished themselves in various military endeavours. Lieuten ant General Buratai is one of the few foreign dignitaries to be so honoured with such an award by the country. Former US President, John F. Kennedy's diary sells for over $700k

On Wednesday, April 26, 2017, a diary with John F. Kennedy's unedited inner thoughts on politics and his personal beliefs was sold at a Boston auction for $718,750. The 61-page diary includes both handwritten and typed pages, which are bound in a black leather binder. Kennedy kept the diary during his brief time as a journalist in the summer of 1945. He was working as a reporter for the Hearst newspaper company, a job his father, Ambassador Joseph Kennedy, arranged and after covering the opening session of the United Nations in San Francisco that May, he went abroad to cover post-war Europe. According to Bobby Livingston, spokesperson at RR Auction, which handled the sale, "this exceptional diary sheds light on a side of John F. Kennedy seldom explored and confirms America's enduring sense that he was one of the most qualified, intelligent, and insightful commanders-in-chief in American history".
