Resident doctors in Edo State to begin Indefinite Strike on September 4

Association of Resident Doctors, University of Benin, have announced that they will embark on an indefinite strike starting from September 4, 2017.   The proposed strike action comes after a breakdown of negotiations with the federal government over the demand that resident doctors be included in the Integrated Personnel Information System.   Resident doctors in the state believe the inclusion would help them get their emoluments directly from the federal government and curb corruption in the healthcare system.  They also said that the development would make more funds available to run the nation’s healthcare and reduce the brain-drain that is currently plaguing the sector.

Kechi Okwuchi wowed judges and the audience with her performance at the quarter finals of America's Got Talent, thereby making it to the semifinals. The 27-year-old contestant was ecstatic when she found out she made it through and she took to Twitter to share her excitement. South-East Governors meet with IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu

South-east governors are currently having a closed door meeting with the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu. The meeting is holding in Enugu State.  Present at the meeting are the governors of Enugu, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Ebonyi Governor Dave Umahi, Anambra Deputy Governor Nkem Okeke while the governors of Imo and Abia State are yet to join the meeting.

Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, was a guest on Channels TV where he spoke on the recent announcement made by the Nigerian Army that it would be monitoring social media for anti-Buhari and anti-military comments. According to Lai, monitoring social media is a normal practice all over the world.  “Those saying that the government is going to clamp on the freedom of the press, I think they are just exaggerating the issue. Secondly, the report crediting the military that they will be monitoring the social media to me I think it is something that the military does all over the world – Monitoring speeches, monitoring actions just to balance and to ensure that there is no security threat. It does not mean that the military is going to arrest anybody or prosecute anybody.” he said

President Buhari to receive new African champions D'Tigress today

Interpol has issued an international arrest warrant for the billionaire heir to Red Bull, Vorayuth Yoovidhya

Interpol has issued an international request for the arrest of the billionaire heir to the  Red Bull energy drink  fortune as they step up the hunt for the fugitive wanted in a 2012 hit-and-run incident that left a traffic policeman dead in  Bangkok . Thai police spokesman  Krissana Pattanacharoen said that his department had been notified by the international police network of the "Red Notice," a worldwide request to find and provisionally arrest an individual, pending extradition. Vorayuth Yoovidhya,  the 32-year old grandson of the Thai co-founder of the Red Bull brand skipped Thailand at the end of April, just before authorities issued an arrest warrant after he repeatedly failed to meet with prosecutors since the September 2012 crash. Gunmen kill one and abduct 4 travelers in Ondo State

Yesterday, unknown gunmen killed a passenger and abducted four others travelling in a commercial vehicle along the Owo-lkare road in Ondo state. Eye witnesses say that one of the passengers, who put up a fight, was shot dead on the spot and hours after the abduction, families of the victims were contacted to pay a ransom of N15m on each of the victim. But a family source in Akure last night said that they have been able to negotiate the ransom down to N1m each for each of the victim. Spokesperson of the Ondo Police Command, Femi Joseph  said investigations into the incident was underway adding that the miscreants would be smoked out from their hiding.  It was gathered that the four victims and their driver who were heading to Akure from Ikare Akoko were stopped around Oba Akoko road and were forcibly abducted and marched into the bush.

Emotional moment a grown man burst into tears of joy after finding out his dad survived the hurricane storm in texas

After an emotional CNN interview where he described surviving the storm which he lost a lot and being separated from his family, Aaron Mitchell broke down in tears as he spoke to his father for the first time after Hurricane Harvey slammed into his home in Aransas Pass, Texas. Mitchell told CNN how he had walked 12 miles in the dark to his father's house in a failed bid to find his parent, and the crew were able to use a satellite phone to help him connect to his father in an extremely emotional moment. After speaking to him, Mitchell was able to get on a bus evacuating Rockport residents to Austin where his father is. Watch below.

EFCC freezes N8. 6 billion in three accounts owned by billionaire business woman, Bola Shagaya

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has frozen over N8, 627,458,773.36 billion in three accounts of billionaire businesswoman and an associate and friend of former First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, Bola Shagaya, at Unity bank. According to the Nation, the anti-graft agency is currently investigating the link between Hajia Shagaya and about 10 firms/account.  The billionaire business woman who did not hold any public appointment during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, has dragged Unity Bank to the High Court of Lagos State for allowing the EFCC to Post No Debit (PND) on her accounts without a valid court order. According to Hajia Shagaya, the action taken on her accounts violates Section34 (1) of the EFCC Act, 2004.  According to documents which Shagaya filed and deposed to at the Court by her counsel, Napoleon Emeaso-Nwachukwu, the withdrawal ban placed on one of her accounts has prevented her from defraying N514, 800,000 incurr
