Edo police arrests Pastor, his sister for allegedly trafficking young girls to Russia

The Edo State Police command have arrested one Pastor Endurance Ehioze and his sister for allegedly trafficking young girls to Russia. Confirming their arrest to Vanguard, the commissioner of police in the state, Haliru Gwandu, said they were arrested after an NGO who got wind of their illicit activities, reported them to the police. Narrating her experience in the hands of the pastor and his sister, one of the victims, 24 year old Miss Florence Abu, said; “It all started in 2012 when a member of my Church at Isihor, a Pastor, said he wanted to see me in church. I went. He asked me if I will like to travel out and I told him yes but that I don’t have money. He assured me that the money wasn’t a problem. He said his sister, based in Russia, will take me abroad. Germany legalises same sex marriage

German politicians have voted to legalise same-sex marriage. A total of 393 politicians voted to legalising "marriage for everybody", while 226 voted against and four abstained from voting. The snap vote took place today, only days after Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel changed her mind to allow a free vote. Ms Merkel, has always been against same-sex marriage, but she allowed for the vote after saying on Monday  that politicians could take up the issue as a "question of conscience". As expected, she voted against the bill citing concerns over the welfare of children. Members of Ms Merkel's conservative coalition were given the freedom to individually vote for their choice rather than follow party lines. The Chancellor said though she voted against legalising gay marriage, she hoped Parliament's approval of the measure would lead to more social cohesion. Tennessee Titans cornerback Logan Ryan, left, surprised his older brother for his birthday by paying off the $82,000 student loan debt accumulated. The NFL star shared a photo via his Instagram page of himself with his brother who was smiling while holding a large check written to American Education Services for the $82,000. While speaking at the launch of the Voluntary Assets and Income Declaration Scheme in Abuja yesterday June 29th, acting president, Yemi Osinbajo, said statistics from the Federal Inland Revenue Service FIRS, shows that out of the active population of 70 million people in Nigeria, only 14 million of them are taxpayers. According to Osinbajo, 914 Nigerians pay between N10m and N20m tax yearly and that of the 914 persons, 912 of them are residents of Lagos state while the remaining two reside in Ogun State. The vice president said that this is considerably low considering the fact that Nigeria boast of very wealthy persons with choice properties within and outside the country. EFCC traces N603 million to the wife of a civil servant

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, has traced the sum of N603 million to the wife of Mr Josiah Habu, who is the Director of the Bioresources Development Centre in Bayelsa State. Investigations carried out by EFCC showed that Esther was given suspicious contracts by over 20 directors of BIODEC across the country. A statement by the EFCC spokesman, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, stated that about N70m was traced to Esther's husband. Director-General of NABDA, Prof Lucy Ogbadu, who oversees all BIODEC branches across the country was also arrested by the anti-graft agency. The professor allegedly received N23m from the slush fund. EFCC stated that Ogbadu’s link with all the alleged scams was being investigated. She had been duly served with bail conditions while investigations continued. Tension in Abuja Games Village as Lebanese nationals block gate of the estate

There is palpable tension in the popular Games Village Estate in Abuja as residents of the estate and some Lebanese nationals are currently at loggerheads over the planned construction of a church within the estate. Two escaped Chibok schoolgirls meet President Donald Trump and Ivanka Trump at the White House

Joy Bishara , 20, and Lydia Pogu , 19, two of the Chibok schoolgirls who were able to escape from Boko Haram in 2014, met with US President Donald Trump at the White House Wednesday, June 28. The duo and several other girls who escaped moved to the United States to complete school. With the help of a Christian nonprofit, others, they were able to attend boarding school in Virginia. Bishara and Pogu transferred their senior year and recently graduated from Canyonville Christian Academy. They will be attending Southeastern University in Florida in the fall.

The Director of the Defence Information, Major General John Enenche, says the Nigerian military is making progress in its fight against Boko Haram terrorists. 23 Nigerians deported from Spain for various offences

Yesterday, the Spanish Government deported 23 Nigerians for committing various offences in the country. Their deportation comes barely five days after 34 Nigerians were sent home from six European countries for committing immigration-related offences. According to  DSP Joseph Alabi, the spokesman of the Lagos Airport Police Command, the new deportees, comprising 21 males and two females, were brought back in a privilege style aircraft with registration number EC-IZO. He also said that the deportees were received by officers of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and the Police. Others also on ground to receive them were officials of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).   According to him, nine of the deportees, who were deported for drug-related offences, were handed over to the NDLEA. A photo of a couple having sex in a fire engine has sparked outrage and led to an investigation to find the culprits. In the photo which was shared on a swingers' website, a naked blond woman is seen being pushed against a fire tender's side while the hand of a man caressed her breasts. The explicit photo was one of a series of other such images posted on a swinger's website by someone claiming to be a fireman seeking "fellow swingers". In the photo, a firefighters’ uniform and equipment can be seen behind the couple. The website address of the Greater Manchester fire service can also be seen on the engine’s door. Notorious cult group, Badoo, have struck again in Ikorodu, this time killing a family of five. According to reports, the attack happened at Ayelala, Olopomeji, back of MRS filling station (formerly Kadesh filling station) close to the Army Barracks, Odogunyan, Ikorodu, yesterday June 27th. Members of the murdered family are from Igede, Benue State but they reside in Odogunyan, Ikorodu. World Cup 2022 corruption: $2m was sent to child of FIFA official before Qatar was awarded hosting right - Investigator

The sum of US$2 million was sent to the 10-year-old daughter of a Fifa official prior to Qatar being awarded the hosting of the 2022 World Cup, according to Bild. In an extract from the article released  on Monday night, the German daily claims to have got hold of the report of more than 400 pages from American independent investigator, Michael Garcia’s report into the alleged bribery and corruption during the bidding for the hosting of the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, which has never been properly published by world football’s governing body. Our lives are in danger, Billionaire kidnapper, Evans' victims cry out

Some victims of the notorious kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeje Onwuamadike “Evans”, have expressed fears that their lives may be in danger considering that there are members of his gang and people loyal to him who are yet to be arrested. Chief Donatus Dunu, one of Evans' victims who escaped from the Igando hideout after plans were made to kill him, condemned the release of his worker, Emeka Egbulugha, who he claimed supplied inside information that led to his kidnap.    Another victim, who spoke under the condition of anonymity, said he was held by the abductors for six months and still lives with the trauma.
