Indigenes from Senator Ndume's constituency stage protest over his supension from the senate

Members of Senator Ali Ndume's constituency in Borno state this morning staged a protest over his suspension from the senate. Ndume was suspended by the senate for moving a motion for the senate to investigate Sahara reporters claim that Dino Melaye forged his certificate and Senate President Bukola Saraki purchased a Range Rover Bulletproof SUV without paying the necessary Customs duty. His suspension for 6 months was announced on Wednesday on the floor of the house, following recommendations by the senate's committee on Ethics and Privileges.

A Northern poet was blast on twitter for saying certain ethnic groups embarrass Nigeria & the country should be divided

A Northern Abuja based poet, Abdulbaqi Jari took to his twitter handle @Bahaushee, to blame the Yoruba and Igbo ethnic groups for embarrassing Nigeria in other countries. Using some kind of twisted logic, Jari feels the Xenophobia and recent attack against some Nigerian students in India were caused by the Igbos. Twitter users of course clapped back at him. Fire guts accounts section of Ebonyi State Government House But no life lose

The accounts section of the Ebonyi State Government House was gutted by fire  on Friday  morning around  9 a.m. Senior Special Assistant to Gov. David Umahi on Internal Security, Dr. Kenneth Ugbala, who confirmed the incident while speaking to newsmen said that it took the combined efforts of workers and the State Fire Service to put out the fire. "The fire outbreak was caused by a faulty electrical connection within the accounts section and the level of damage was minimal. An upholstery and cottons within the section were completely burnt and we would ascertain the true extent of damage when the fire service concludes its task," he said

One dead after Nigerians reportedly attempted to break out of a Cambodian Immigration facility

Unconfirmed reports just coming said there was a riot at an immigration holding facility in Phnom Penh, Cambodia yesterday evening after some Nigerians attempted to break out. According to a local media ,  a Dutch man being held at the facility said ten Nigerians had attempted an escape yesterday evening. One man was killed and may be one of the Nigerians, it was suggested. The Nigerians have since been taken to Prey Sar prison, the source added.

Suspected kidnapper apprehended with Human head in Bauchi

Security agents in Bauchi state have arrested suspected kidnapper, Abdullah Dalhatu pictured above, for kidnapping and cutting the body parts of his victims for ritual. According to reports, the man led a team of security men to a forest where he buried the head of one of his victims, a 60 year old man.

Federal Commissioner, Hajia Farouq unhappy with the forceful return of Nigerian refugees from Cameroon

The National Commission For Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons has Condemned the forceful return of Nigerian refugees from Cameroon which is against international laws. The Federal Commissioner, Hajia Sadiya Umar Farouq, in a statement, said it is unfortunate that Cameroon has continued forceful return of Nigerian refugees even after signing the Tripartite agreement with Nigeria and the UN which seeks to ensure the safety, proper handling as well as voluntary return of Nigerian refugees who are in that country following the Boko Haram crises.   She stated that, the parties agreed to provide people wishing to return with clear information on the situation prevailing in their areas of return in order to make a well informed and voluntary decision.   She urges Cameroon to respect and observe the international protection principles.  While restating the commitment of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally displaced Persons t

(Funny but befitting Court Rules) An American judge has come up with a fitting punishment for domestic abusers

Joshua Hill, a 36yr old from North Carolina is unlikely to raise so much as his voice at a woman ever again, not after the punishment he has been made to undergo. Hill pleaded guilty to assault and criminal trespassing in 2014, and last week admitted to violating a parole condition stipulating that he not have contact with the female from the assault case. For the parole violation, Judge Mark Cummings ordered Hill to hold a sign which reads: 'This is the face of domestic abuse' outside the courthouse from  8.30am to 12.30pm  for seven consecutive days, in addition to a three day jail sentence. Unsurprisingly, he's not finding it fun, he said: 'This is belittling. I was born and raised here, everybody knows me.' He said he didn't assault anyone but pleaded guilty to avoid jail but would rather go to jail than suffer the humiliation of this unusual punishment. A Neuroscientist from Iran, Masih Rahmati and his girlfriend Mahsa Mehrdad suffered abuse at the hands of a man who racially abused them and yelled death threats saying 'Trump is in the house'. Ms Mehrdad filmed the latter part of the exchange and posted the shocking video on Facebook. During the tirade, the man said: 'Go back to your own country', 'Donald Trump is in the house' and 'I'll kill all three of you at one time'. Ms Mehdrad posted an account of the shocking encounter on Facebook along with the video. As a result of the multiple distress calls by Nigerian students in India on concerns on their safety following renewed attacks on them, Hon. Man survived after he was electrocuted with 110 volt in his sleep by phone charger

32-year-old Wiley Day from Alabama is a lucky man, he somehow survived after he was electrocuted by his phone charger. He sleeps with his cellphone charging in his bed but on one fateful Wednesday night, things went really bad. The charger came lose and a metal dog tag he was wearing got caught up in it, he was jolted out of bed by the electricity coursing through his body. Wiley managed to rip the necklace off but not before suffering second and third-degree burns to his neck and hands. He said: 'What I felt through that...I just thought that's how you die.' Doctors say he is expected to recover but that could have died.  Dr Benjamin Fail said that 100 volts can kill a person and Day was hit with 110.  'He is lucky to be alive,' Dr. Fail said. Actor, Ricardo Medina sentenced to 6 years in prison for manslaughter

Former 'Power Ranger' star actor, Ricardo Medina Jr. was sentenced to six years in state prison for the stabbing death of Josh Sutter, Late Sutter was identified as Medina’s roommate by the LA County DA’s Office, though Medina’s attorney reportedly said the two were just friends, not roommates. Medina Jr. pleaded guilty earlier this month to one felony count of voluntary manslaughter and admitted to stabbing Sutter with a sword. Six years was the maximum sentence. The 38-year-old actor was arrested for the crime back in January, after he and Sutter allegedly got into an argument that turned physical.   According to LA County Sheriff’s Department, Sutter forced himself into Medina’s bedroom, where Medina had gone with his girlfriend in the midst of the argument. The actor then stabbed Sutter with a sword he kept in his room. Afterward, Medina reportedly called police and was arrested when they arrived. Mother and son killed,father is seriously injured after they are stabbed at home by a man who stole their Land Rover

13-year-old boy and his mother have died and his father is fighting for his life after they were stabbed at their home in Stourbridge in the West Midlands. Peter Wilkinson, 47, his 50-year-old wife Tracey Wilkinson and their son were stabbed by a man who was living with them after which he fled in the family's Land Rover then crashed it during a police chase.  Police and emergency services were called to their home in Greyhound Lane Stourbridge, West Midlands  on Thursday  morning following reports of an incident. The were all rushed to the hospital where the wife and son were later pronounced dead while the man is in critical condition. The police caught the suspect  thirty minutes later in Norton Road, following a car chase. The man who is believed to be in his 20s  is currently in police custody and will later be questioned on suspicion of murder and wounding. Nigerian man and his Ugandan girlfriend arrested with 1kg of heroin in India

Police in Mohali, India police have arrested a Nigerian national and his Ugandan girlfriend and recovered 1 kg of heroin, worth around Rs 5 crore, from their possession.  The Nigerian suspect simply identified as Neubuz and Helen from Uganda were nabbed on Tuesday, March 28th,  following the arrest of three persons, including two women, from whom the police had recovered 500 gm of heroin, worth Rs 2.5 crore, two days ago.  "During interrogation, the trio had stated that they had procured the heroin from the Nigerian national and his friend, both putting up in Delhi," said Mohali Senior Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Singh Chahal. The Mohali CIA wing conducted a raid on their rented accommodation in Delhi and nabbed them with the booty. The police said earlier both accused had visited India in 2011 on a tourist visa for three months. "They again came here last month on a six-month tourist visa. The accused posed as cloth merchants, but were drug peddlers,"

Presidency denies report that Buhari has cancelled his medical trip to the UK

Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, has denied a report by Sahara Reporters that President Buhari has cancelled his medical trip to the UK and instead invited his physicians over to Nigeria. Speaking with BBC, Shehu described the report as false. "It is false news. We are not aware of the reported advance movements. The last time the president spoke about this, he said he would return to his doctors after some time. We are not aware that this has changed." Upon his return from his over a month medical vacation in the UK, President Buhari hinted that he would in a matter of weeks, proceed to the UK for further medical checkups.

EFCC arraigns serving House of Representatives member for certificate forgery (PHOTOS)

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, today arraigned a serving member of the House of Representatives, Nse Bassey Ekpenyong before Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the Federal High Court sitting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State on a 9-count charge of forgery and alteration of documents. Ekpenyong, representing Oron Federal Constituency in Akwa- Ibom State, was alleged to have forged an Abia State Polytechnic's Ordinary National Diploma Certificate and uttered a December 1999's West African Examination School Certificate, WASSCE and thereby committed perjury before an Electoral Tribunal where he claimed that the certificates were genuine. He pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were read to him. In view of his plea, prosecution counsels Ahmed I. Arogha and S. Two new arrests in connection with murder of 18-year-old Nigerian student in London

Detectives investigating the fatal shooting of 18-year-old David Adegbite in Barking, London have made two further arrests. LIB earlier reported that the Nigerian teenager better known as "Dutch" was gunned down as he cycled through an east London estate in Barking on Sunday, March 19th. He was ambushed by a gang who surrounded him and shot him in the head as children played nearby. A 22-year-old man was arrested on Monday, 27 March in connection with the murder. He has been bailed until a date in late May, Metropolitan Police said in a statement issued yesterday. And on Tuesday, 28 March, a 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. He remains in custody at an east London police station. A murder investigation was launched after police were called at 19:09hrs on Sunday, 19 March to reports of a shooting in St Ann's.
