We are not sponsored by politicians – IPOB

The Indigenous People of Biafra,IPOB, on Tuesday, denied reports that it was sponsored by some South-East politicians. The IPOB protests are sponsored by politicians,” National Director of Information of the MASSOB faction, Mr. Sunday Okereafor, said in an interview with SUNDAY PUNCH. But IPOB, in a statement signed by its spokesmen, Emma Mmezu and Dr. Clifford Iroanya, said it has nothing to do with any politician. The presidency has reacted to the February 5th proposed Nationwide protest which singer, 2face Idibia and other celebrities have come out to support. Speaking in an interview with Lagos Talk 91.3fm, Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, said those who are calling for the protest are people who supported the last government and are still pained that they lost the last election. "This is a country of about 180 million people. It is impossible for 180 million people to think the same way. Yoruba has a saying that is you all sleep and put your head in the same direction, then you are all foolish because you would be breathing in one another's mouth and lungs. Dont forget the last election and how it went. Somebody scored 12.5 million votes, another scored about 15 million votes. There are some people who are still in that election mode. They have not gotten out of it and till today, they are still living and "rheumatisizing

Nigerians will not accept fuel price increase – NUPENG

The Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers has warned the Federal Government against any further increase in the price of petroleum products. The President of NUPENG, Mr. Achese Igwe, said that the increase in the pump price of fuel could not be the solution to the biting economic situation in the country. Igwe made the comment while speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise daily programme monitored by our correspondent on Monday. He stressed that the claim that the Federal Government was owing the Depot and Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria was no reason to consider any increase in the pump price of petroleum products. When asked about the amount owed DAPMAN, he said “That shouldn’t be a basis for talking about increases in the price òf petroleum products. If marketers are being owed by government, I believe they have a right to ask for their debt, I believe Government also has a responsibility to pay part of their debt. “NARTO (

Nigerian Mother Becomes Only Black Woman In The World To Have Two White Babies

A black mother who gave birth to a million-to-one, white, blue-eyed baby boy has stunned doctors by having a second white child. Financial analyst Catherine Howarth, 35, who is of Nigerian heritage, believed the rare recessive white gene that resulted in son Jonah, three, being completely white would not strike a second time. So she was stunned when the midwife handed her daughter Sophia and she was as white as her big brother. The mum from Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, believes she is the only black mother in the world to have given birth to two white, blue-eyed children. She said: ‘When Jonah was born, a genetic specialist said he was a one-in-a-million baby. He said it was extraordinary with my African background that I’d had a child with blue eyes and pale skin. ‘He calculated the possibility of it happening again was less than one in a million. ‘So when Sophia was born with white skin and blue eyes I was more than taken aback with shock. It seems the odds o

Humans’ oldest ancestor was egg-shaped, had no anus – Scientists

Humans’ earliest known relative was likely an egg-shaped creature that ate and expelled from the same gaping orifice some 540 million years ago, scientists reported Monday. Startlingly well-preserved fossils of the tiny beast, dubbed Saccorhytus, were discovered in central China’s Shaanxi province, they reported in the journal Nature. Several major branches of evolution — one of them eventually leading to humans — began from this inconspicuous, sea-dwelling organism, they speculated. “This may represent the primitive beginnings of a very diverse range of species, including ourselves,” said co-author Simon Conway Morris, a professor at Britain’s University of Cambridge. Saccorhytus belongs to a broad category of organisms called deuterostomes, and is the most ancient specimen unearthed so far. Indeed, all deuterostomes — vertebrates (animals with backbones), echinoderms (starfish and sea urchins) and other distinct groups — are thought to have derived from
