PDP wins rivers legislative rerun

The Peoples Democratic Party has won the supplementary rerun election held in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State. The party, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission, won the Federal House of Representatives seat and the State House of Assembly seat that were in contention. Returning Officer for the Etche/Omuma Federal Constituency election, Professor Shola Omotola, announced on Sunday that the All Progressives Congress got 6,220 votes while the PDP polled 15,221 votes. With the declaration of the result, Jerome Eke of the PDP defeated his closed rival, Ogbonna Nwuke of the APC However, the Returning Officer for the Etche State Constituency 2 election, Oluwatosin Odusanya announced that the PDP scored 4,162 votes to defeat the APC, which polled 1,618 votes. Buhari has not disappointed me,- Obasanjo

Former President  Olusegun  Obasanjo says that the current Nigerian leader, Muhammadu Buhari, has not disappointed him since he assumed office  in 2015. Obasanjo stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria  at his hilltop residence in Abeokuta. While reflecting on the Buhari  administration since 2015, Obasanjo said that the president had done his best to move the country  forward. “Whatever anybody says, President Buhari has not disappointed me from what I know of him,’’ he said. Senate now has new breed of politicians – Saraki

President of the Senate, Senator Bukola Saraki, has said the upper chamber of the National Assembly is now occupied by a different set of politicians who have abandoned “the practice of yesterday’s politics.” Saraki, according to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sanni Onogu, said this on Saturday, at the commissioning and handing over of an 80-bed hospital built by Senator Hassan Mohammed and donated to the Federal Government in Potiskum,  Yobe State. The Senate President urged the federal, state and local governments to ensure efficiency in all health care facilities across the country for the benefit of the masses. Police arrests physically disabled man attacking people with broken down vehicles in Lagos

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a man terrorizing motorists in Lagos. FG recalls two of the nine sacked NCAA directors

 Barely 24 hours after they were dismissed, two out of the nine directors of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) have been recalled. The recalled directors are Adamu Abdullahi, Director of Consumer Protection, and Capt. Ayodele Sasegbon, Director of General Aviation. General Manager, Public Relations, NCAA, Sam Adurogboye, announced their recall today and said that their sack have been rescinded.

Fayose berates DSS over PDP ex-governorship aspirant, Gbadamosi’s arrest

Ekiti State Governor and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, Mr Ayodele Fayose has condemned the arrest and detention of a former governorship aspirant of the party in Lagos State, Babatunde Olalere Gbadamosi, by operatives of Department of State Security (DSS), describing the arrest and detention as a continuation of the tyranny and barbarism of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led government.
