We are not sponsored by politicians – IPOB

The Indigenous People of Biafra,IPOB, on Tuesday, denied reports that it was sponsored by some South-East politicians.
A faction of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra had on Saturday accused some unnamed politicians in the South-East of sponsoring protests organised by IPOB members.
“We welcome genuine protests like the ones always carried out by MASSOB. The IPOB protests are sponsored by politicians,” National Director of Information of the MASSOB faction, Mr. Sunday Okereafor, said in an interview with SUNDAY PUNCH.
But IPOB, in a statement signed by its spokesmen, Emma Mmezu and Dr. Clifford Iroanya, said it has nothing to do with any politician.
The secessionist group said it depends on monthly contributions by its members.
“IPOB depends on monthly contributions of dedicated family members all over the world for its sustenance.
“We do not have money-bags nor do we have politicians among us with bags of money to sponsor our activities and never will.
“It will constitute an insult to the memory of our fallen heroes and a departure from our principled stance should IPOB seek to accept the engagement of politicians in our activities,” the statement said.
